& Hobbies

My hobbies and interests are varied, I really enjoy art, music and physical activities.  I have taken part in many sporting activities, some of my favourites are netball, squash and badminton.

Key Skills and Attributes
Communication – Working at Panasonic required a high level of professionalism at all times and this improved my overall efficiency and standard of communication. I am able to present information effectively orally and in writing, to individuals and to groups. I feel confident communicating my ideas and commenting on others, but also realise when to remain quiet and listen to colleagues or clients.

Problem Solving - I use my initiative, quick thinking, and what I have learnt through previous experiences, to work well within teams and individually. This helps me to solve problems as efficiently and positively as possible which benefits me and the people I work with, as it makes me a better team player. I also have the confidence to propose new and innovative ideas to try and find creative solutions.

Teamwork - I have the ability to work well within teams, as I have good listening skills and find it easy to get on with others. Having worked in a variety of teams, such as my netball team, at work and at university, I have learnt that I have the confidence and motivation to take a leadership role if it is needed, whilst also appreciating other people's ideas and opinions.

Employment History

Sept 08 – Nov 08
Schuh - Festival Place, Basingstoke

My duties at Schuh were the same as my experience in previous years working there (please see below). However I was given more responsibility and acted as the supervisor role when the manager was away. This required looking after other members of staff, organising the daily job rota and overseeing that all jobs were completed and the sales target was met.

Aug 08 – Sept 08 Mercedes Benz - Basingstoke

As a receptionist for Mercedes Benz, it was my duty to answer all incoming calls, organise meetings between colleagues, ‘meet and greet' customers, and other general administrative tasks such as sending out brochures / promotion packs to potential and existing customers.

July 07 – Aug 08 Panasonic UK - Bracknell

As a marketing assistant for Panasonic Broadcast, it was predominantly my responsibility to look after the demonstration stock which altogether valued at approximately £500,000, this involved careful coordination and constant database management. In addition to this database I was responsible for contacting dealers and end users regarding the loan of kit, issuing them with the necessary paperwork and ensuring that it was returned.

Other tasks which were my responsibility were doing the minutes for meetings, creating action plans and following them up, using SAP to do the ‘Daily Sales Figures' report so that the Broadcast department knew what their sales were each day, creating marketing e-bulletins, answering phones, replying to questions asked by the public on our web site, organising and attending exhibitions, training other employees, taking part in employing new staff and creating corporate communication marketing.

Mar 06 – June 07

Schuh - Festival Place, Basingstoke

Sales of shoes and a diverse range of merchandise, advising customers, stock orders, deliveries, window dressing, keeping the shop in good order, liaising with customers and colleagues via telephone.  Over the past nine months I have gained point of sale experience and health and safety training.  I am sufficiently experienced and trusted to both open and close the store, which means handing incoming customer orders, organising the cash float whilst also serving customers. Closing the store entails handling the daily takings, calculating daily totals, imputing data onto the computer.

Dec 04 - May 05

Dorothy Perkins - Basingstoke
